WASHINGTON - A Maryland man has been acquitted of child abuse charges after his 5- year-old son accidentally ingested methadone last fall.
Paul Kristopher Brooks, 28, was found guilty of nine other counts, including reckless endangerment, neglect of a minor and weapons and drug charges, The Capital Gazette reports.
Prosecutors said Brooks abused his son by waiting more than hour to take the boy to the hospital after he became dizzy and sick.
The boy was eventually treated at a Baltimore hospital for life-threatening injuries.
Brooks will be sentenced Feb. 28. His wife, Kimberly, is scheduled to stand trial April 9.
