Ex-Baltimore mayor resolves probation violations

Friday - 12/7/2012, 1:23pm  ET

BALTIMORE - Former Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon appeared in court to settle probation violations stemming from charges that forced her from office.

Dixon had fallen more than $13,000 behind on court-ordered charitable contributions stemming from the charges. The violations had put the former mayor's pension in jeopardy. However, a judge said Friday that she had made the payments and the court was waiting for the checks to clear.

The Democrat resigned in 2010 after pleading guilty to lying about gifts from her ex-boyfriend, a developer. The jury also found her guilty of stealing about $500 in gift cards donated to the city for needy families.

The former mayor said earlier this year that she was trying to do her best to make the payments.
