BROWNSVILLE, Md. - The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is draining a fishing pond in the Washington County community of Brownsville to prevent a dam failure.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown (bit.ly/Ptv9VO) reports that the earthen dam had eroded and was in danger of collapsing.
Inland fisheries director Don Cosden says most of the water has been removed from the nearly 1-acre pond. He says the fish have been relocated.
Cosden says there is no money currently available for repairs. He says fixing the dam could cost $100,000 to $150,000.
