HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Washington County sheriff says a Hancock woman found hanging at the county detention center has been declared dead.
Sheriff Douglas W. Mullendore said Sunday that 25-year-old Kristy Dawn Jenkins was declared dead Friday. She was found hanging from a sheet on a bathroom partition on Wednesday. Jenkins was later taken Meritus Medical Center.
Mullendore told The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown ( http://bit.ly/INBB8Y) that procedures at the detention center are being reviewed following Jenkins' death.
There have been two other hangings at the detention center in the past two years. The sheriff said a 22-year-old man killed himself last year, and a woman survived in 2010.
