BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say an officer fired his weapon while trying to disperse a crowd, striking two people.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the officer was trying to disperse a large crowd in front of carryout store about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 5400 block of York Road when he began struggling with a man in the crowd.
A 21-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening injuries in the shooting. The police spokesman says it is not clear whether the man who was wounded was the same man who struggled with the officer.
Guglielmi also said he did not know how many shots were fired by the unidentified officer, who was placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the shooting.
