SALISBURY, Md. - A Princess Anne man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the strangulation of a Salisbury woman in 2007.
Forty-seven-year-old Warren Ballard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 51-year-old Shirley Smith. He was sentenced on Wednesday.
The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that Ballard was convicted of murder and other charges in the killing in 2008. But the Maryland Court of Appeals overturned that conviction last year, stating police continued to question him after he invoked his right to speak to a lawyer. ( http://bit.ly/ACNjIl)
