White House to stream National Christmas Tree Lighting online

WASHINGTON — If you didn’t get a ticket for the National Christmas Tree
Lighting
, you can still watch it from the comfort of your home.

The tree lighting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4. President Barack
Obama will be in attendance, along with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. Patti
LaBelle
and Steve Miller are among the performers
lined up for the ceremony.

Streets around the event area will be blocked beginning 1 p.m. Thursday,
and traffic delays are expected.

The 40-foot Colorado Blue Spruce from York, Pennsylvania will be illuminated
at
5 p.m. The ceremony will be streamed live on the White House YouTube
Channel
,
and will be broadcast on PBS throughout the month.
