Woman dies after Bethesda crash

WASHINGTON — An 88-year-old woman traveling as a rear passenger in a Toyota Camry has died after the car was involved in an earlier crash near Montgomery Mall, in Bethesda, on Saturday.

The incident occurred just before noon, says Pete Piringer, a spokesman with the
county fire department. Another adult was taken to a local hospital with non-life-
threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department continue to investigate the fatal three-vehicle collision on Democracy Boulevard near the exit from the Interstate 270 spur.

Police say a silver Toyota Camry was making a left coming off 270 when it collided with a county-owned Ford pickup truck. A blue Mercedes was also involved in the
wreck.

Montgomery County Police are assessing who had the right of way. No charges have
been filed at this time. Detectives are looking into the traffic light cycle at the time of the incident. Any witnesses are urged to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
