Former Redskins player charged with domestic assault

WASHINGTON — A former Washington Redskins player has been charged with
domestic assault.

Frederick Smoot, who was a defensive back with the Redskins, was arrested Sunday
in connection with a domestic assault at a home in Ashburn, Virginia.

Deputies responded to the 21300 block of Victoria’s Cross Terrace at about 11
a.m. for a report of a domestic assault. The victim, told police Smoot – her
boyfriend – grabbed her during an altercation.

Smoot has been charged with misdemeanor domestic assault.

He was booked and released at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. Smoot’s
trial date is set for the morning of Jan. 5.

This isn’t Smoot’s first run in with the law. He was charged with driving while intoxicated in D.C. in December 2012.
