Uber delivering kittens for National Cat Day

WASHINGTON — Cat fans, rejoice! Wednesday is National Cat Day, and Uber is offering kitten deliveries in exchange for a donation.

The car-sharing service teamed up with the ASPCA and the website Cheezburger for the UberKITTENS campaign, according to Uber’s blog. The campaign aims to raise cat adoption awareness and promote shelter adoptions.

Until 4 p.m. Wednesday, Uber users will be able to request kittens in D.C., Austin, Chicago, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle.

For $30, you’ll gain 15 minutes of cat cuddles, delivered to wherever you are. The money goes to shelters participating in the campaign, and Uber says it will match all donations.

Here’s how it works: D.C. users can use the promo code kittensdc to unlock the “KITTENS” option in the Uber app. The company warns they expect demand to be “VERY HIGH,” so be patient.

If you become smitten with your furry visitor, some shelters also offer the option of adoption.
