Cab driver suspended over unlicensed firearm

WASHINGTON (AP) — A taxicab driver in Washington has been suspended after he was arrested for allegedly carrying an unlicensed firearm.

The Washington Post reports (http://on.wusa9.com/10aMnTj ) that the DC Taxicab Commission suspended cab driver Sahlu Tekletsadik’s license on Friday after the man was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a license, possessing unregistered ammunition and making felony threats during a road rage incident.

Authorities say Tekletsadik was driving a taxi on Tuesday when he began yelling at another cab driver. The other driver flagged down a police officer, who received permission to search Tekletsadik’s cab. The officer found an unloaded gun and ammunition that were not properly registered.

A call could not be completed to Tekletsadik’s residence on Sunday.
