Arlington police seek man impersonating officer

WASHINGTON — Police in Arlington are looking for a man who posed as a police officer and tried to abduct a woman.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, a man pulled behind a 31-year-old woman in the Ballston area and activated a red rotating dashboard light. When she stopped, the man told her she needed to get out of her car and come with him to the police station.

When she said she wanted a uniformed officer on the scene, he left.

The suspect is described as black, 6 foot tall and 200 pounds. He wore a faded black winter coat and jeans at the time of the offense.

If people aren’t sure about a traffic stop, police in Arlington advise contacting the non-emergency line to confirm. Anyone with information about the suspect should call Detective Conigliaro at 703-228-4193 or email him at rconig@arlingtonva.us.
