Meeting on Montgomery Village planning scheduled

WASHINGTON — Montgomery Village, one of the nation’s oldest planned communities, is due for a makeover. And the change starts with planning.

On Wednesday, residents will have a chance to get more information on proposals for the master plan for redevelopment. Among the issues generating lots of interest is the future of the Montgomery Village Golf Club. The 147-acre open space facility will close Nov. 30.

Under one proposal, Monument Realty would redevelop the golf course, adding up to 600 residential units including townhomes, duplexes and single family homes. That plan would include setting aside 80 acres of land as a park for public use.
