Virginia couple fights to keep pet pig (Video)

WASHINGTON – To county officials in Virginia’s Chesterfield County, Tucker is a pig, one not allowed in Mark and Kim Johnson’s neighborhood because pigs are livestock.

To the Johnsons, Tucker is a pet, albeit a big one. Tucker is a 150-pound, KuneKune pig.

They’re fighting to keep Tucker.

In seeking a conditional use permit, they told the county planning commission Tucker is “harmless, quiet, clean and their son.”

If Chesterfield County does not grant the Johnsons a permit for Tucker, they plan to move from their Brandermill home.

The county’s planning commission takes up this issue at a public hearing on Oct. 21.
