It’s TechTober in Virginia

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has declared October to be “TechTober” in Virginia, what he calls a statewide celebration of the commonwealth’s high-tech industry.

“We need to do everything we can to retain, recruit and grow these industries to ensure that Virginia continues to be a leader in the global economy,” McAuliffe said. “This starts with equipping Virginia’s students and workforce with the skills and resources they need to succeed in these rapidly expanding sectors.”

Virginia has the highest concentration of high-tech jobs per capita in the nation.

The McAuliffe administration plans to use TechTober as a reason to host a series of informational, hands-on events highlighting tech activities and to launch a new mentor program for students.

That program, called “Mentors for Momentum,” will connect businesses, educators and professionals with students interested in studying technology.
