WASHINGTON (AP) — A woman convicted of voluntary manslaughter in a 2010 hit-and-run crash has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison.
Thirty-four-year-old Jorida Davidson of Chevy Chase, Maryland, was sentenced Friday in D.C. Superior Court.
Davidson was convicted in July in the death of 24-year-old Kiela Ryan. Prosecutors say on Oct. 7, 2010, Davidson was driving a Lexus SUV when she struck Ryan near Dupont Circle and continued driving to her home.
Davidson was previously convicted of leaving the scene of a collision involving injury and driving while under the influence of alcohol, and sentenced to more than three years in prison. But the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the charge of voluntary manslaughter.
Judge Lynn Leibovitz ordered that the manslaughter sentence run concurrently with the previous sentence.
