Baltimore Arena gets new name: Royal Farms Arena

BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Arena will get a new name if Baltimore’s Board of Estimates approves a $1.25 million deal with Royal Farms.

The Daily Record reports (http://bit.ly/1m6PsOa) that the city board has been asked to approve the 5-year deal for naming rights with SMG, the arena’s operator.

The Board of Estimates will meet Wednesday. If the contract is approved, the entertainment venue will become Royal Farms Arena on Nov. 1.

The Baltimore Civic Center opened in 1962 and became the Baltimore Arena in 1986. 1st Mariner Bank had a 10-year contract for naming rights, which expired last year.

Royal Farms is based in Baltimore. It has about 160 stores in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
