2 car wrecks leave 1 dead, several injured

BEL AIR, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a pair of serious car wrecks in Joppa left one person dead and several others injured.

On Friday just after 6:30 p.m. the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded to a collision on state route 152, where three cars had collided and two people were trapped inside a vehicle.

One of the passengers, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities were able to rescue another man from the same car, who was transported to Shock Trauma. The driver of one of the other vehicles was also taken to the hospital.

An hour later, just before 8 p.m., firefighters responded to a crash on Mountain Road near Jerusalem Road involving a car and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment.
