WASHINGTON -- D.C. Council member Marion Barry is back in the Department of Motor Vehicles' good graces.

The four-term mayor released a statement on Wednesday announcing he had paid off the balance of his parking tickets and cleared up questions surrounding the registration on his 2002 Jaguar.

"A number of people who heard about the issue called and offered to pay the balance," Barry says in a statement.

In the statement, Barry thanks the DMV director, Lucinda Babers, and the administrative law judge for resolving the matter.

In a series of tweets Tuesday, Barry both retracted tweets and praised police in D.C..
