Biggest party colleges in each state are ranked

WASHINGTON — If you’re looking for a good time, chances are it can be had at the homes of the Duke Dogs and Terrapins.

ECollegeFinder.com ranked the biggest party schools in each state, according to data collected by College Prowler. To determine the party school rankings, College Prowler gave each school a score out of 10 points.

The students at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, ranked as the commonwealth’s top partiers. It scored 9.3 on College Prowler’s list, earning it the No. 13 spot.

When it came to Maryland, the University of Maryland ranked as the state’s top party school. It received a party school rating of 8.89 and ranked No. 31 on College Prowler’s list.

D.C. was not included on ECollegeFinder.com, but some D.C. schools made it on College Prowler’s top 100 list. Howard University ranked No. 17 on the party school list with a score of 9.22 and George Washington University ranked 78th with a score of 8.29.

UC Santa Barbara students are familiar with festivities. The school ranked No. 1 on party school list with a perfect 10 score. The Golden State may need to be renamed The Party State after ECollegeFinder.com said the state was the home of the biggest party colleges.

Below are the 10 biggest party states followed by the top party school in the state, according to ECollegeFinder.com.

  1. California — UC Santa Barbara – 10/10
  2. Georgia — University of Georgia – 9.87/10
  3. Florida — University of Florida – 9.72/10
  4. Illinois — University of Illinois – 9.62/10
  5. Texas — University of Texas – 9.6/10
  6. West Virginia — West Virginia University – 9.57/10
  7. Louisiana — Tulane University – 9.42/10
  8. Pennsylvania — Penn State – 9.4
  9. Indiana — Indiana University – 9.37/10
  10. Arizona — Arizona State University – 9.32/10

Because there can only be one school featured in each state, some notorious party schools were left off ECollegeFinder.com’s list.

College Prowler did not list the methodology behind its party school ranking, but said the scores are based on student opinions and the “list of schools have parties nearly every night of [the] week.”
