CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — The case against a former high school teacher accused of assaulting the wife of a Virginia legislator is headed to a grand jury.
The Daily Progress (http://bit.ly/1p1ZFco ) reports that Claire Ogilvie waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Thursday in Charlottesville General District Court. That sent the case to grand jurors to consider the evidence against the 36-year-old defendant.
Ogilvie is charged with breaking into the Charlottesville home of House Minority Leader David J. Toscano in February and attacking Toscana’s wife, Nancy Tramontin.
Ogilvie is charged with burglary, abduction and malicious wounding.
In a statement released after the attack, Tramontin said she and Ogilvie had been friends until she developed an “unsettling interest” in the family.
The grand jury meets Aug. 18.
