3 charged in Richlands school bus theft

RICHLANDS, Va. (AP) — Three people face charges stemming from the theft of a school bus in Richlands.

Richlands Police Chief Frank Dorton tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1luZ2Dh ) that the school activity bus was taken from Richland High School’s campus. The bus was found on June 27 on the athletic field of Southwest Virginia Community College.

Twenty-year-old Todd McGlothlin of Cedar Bluff, 18-year-old Chelsea Noel Perkins of Raven and 18-year-old Michael Paul of Doran are each charged with grand larceny, trespassing on school property, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and conspiracy to commit grand larceny.

Dorton says charges are pending against two juveniles.

He says the bus wasn’t damaged.

Tazewell County School Superintendent Christine Kinser says the bus is used to transport students and teams to athletic events and related functions.
