Central Va. woman, 85, convicted of baby’s assault

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — An 85-year-old suburban Richmond woman has been convicted of assaulting an infant she had been babysitting.

Evelyn Faye Pillow entered an Alford plea Friday in Henrico Circuit Court. She admitted there was sufficient evidence to convict her on a misdemeanor assault charge.

The abuse occurred last September. The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/TEdrXl) reports that medical experts were prepared to testify that the months-old child showed signs of shaken baby syndrome.

Pillow was ordered to perform 400 hours of community service. She was also barred from being alone with children.
