Md. lacrosse player charged with sex assault

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) — Police have charged a University of Maryland lacrosse player with sexual battery after a concertgoer reported that she had been assaulted.

Prince William County, Virginia, police say the 49-year-old woman had fallen asleep on the lawn at a Zac Brown Band concert Sunday night at the Jiffy Lube Live amphitheater in Bristow.

The woman told police that she woke up and found 19-year-old Benjamin Chisolm of Davidsonville, Maryland, touching her inappropriately.

Police say Chisolm was initially detained for public intoxication on an unrelated matter, and subsequently charged with aggravated sexual battery following a brief investigation.

Chisolm was held without bond following his arrest.

The University of Maryland athletic department says it is aware of the charges against Chisolm, who recently completed his freshman season, and will cooperate with the investigation.
