Suburban Hospital recently honored a Montgomery County 2nd District police officer who helped the facility beef up security and provide blood pressure readings for local seniors.
Dana Stroman, a community outreach officer based in Bethesda, received the Johns Hopkins Corporate Security’s Police Officer of the Year Award, a first for a Montgomery County police officer. Suburban Hospital is part of the Johns Hopkins Medicine system.
Stroman was selected because she helped Suburban security develop a plan to boost safety and security in the emergency room of the Old Georgetown Road hospital. According to a police press release, Stroman also helped hospital management change a phone extension line that was allowing inadvertent calls and hang-ups to the 911 emergency line.
Stroman also organized monthly senior citizen forums at Westfield Montgomery and arranged for Suburban Hospital staff to take blood pressure readings and give out health information.
Stroman was honored with the award last week at a luncheon in Silver Spring. She will be a 22-year veteran of the force next month and has served in the community outreach officer position for the 15 years.
