Police shot at while responding to D.C. traffic accident

WASHINGTON — Police respond daily to traffic accidents to help drivers and passengers, but they usually don’t get shot at in the process.

One such incident occurred early Saturday on H Street in Northeast D.C. As officers tried to talk to the people involved, shots were fired by one of those involved in the crash and into a crowd that had gathered nearby the scene.

Police didn’t return fire and no one was hurt. Two suspects did get in a car and drove away from the incident but they were soon caught on East Capitol Street.
