WASHINGTON (AP) — When Bryce Harper exactly will begin a minor league rehab assignment remains a mystery, even to his manager.

The All-Star outfielder has been sidelined since April 26 and had ligament surgery on his left thumb last month.

Nationals manager Matt Williams expects Harper, Washington’s primary left fielder, to play seven games overall with stints at all three outfield spots and DH.

Harper is batting .289 with one home run and nine RBI in 22 games this season.
