Man charged with murdering Falls Church woman

WASHINGTON – Fairfax County police have charged the boyfriend of a Falls Church woman found dead in her home earlier this week with her murder.

Police say they have obtained an arrest warrant for Juan Ramon Matetu Figueroa, 35. He faces a murder charge in the stabbing death of his girlfriend Glenda Aviles, 28.

Police found Aviles dead inside the Westmoreland Road home, where she rented a room, on Wednesday. She died of stab wounds, police say.

Officers were first called to the home Wednesday morning for a welfare check. But no one answered the door and nothing appeared out of the ordinary. Officers returned later in the day with the home’s owner and found Aviles.
