Altec Industries adding 200 jobs at Virginia plant

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — An aerial device manufacturer is adding about 200 jobs at a plant in Virginia.

The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/1nQQg6I) reports Birmingham, Alabama-based Altec Industries began the $3.9 million expansion at the Botetourt County plant in January.

The plant makes aerial devices for bucket trucks, cranes and digger derricks for electric utilities, telecommunications and tree care companies and other contractors.

Manufacturing plant general manager Jeff Emry says the company is hiring assemblers, welders and other production workers, as well as engineers and other professionals.
