RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- U.S. Marshals are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a person of interest in the slayings of four members in Petersburg.

The U.S. Marshals Service says in a news release that it also is expanding the search for 47-year-old Alexander Roosevelt Hill Jr.

The victims were found April 19 following a house fire. The state medical examiner said 67-year-old Pauline Wilkins and 46-year-old Vickie Chavis Ansar died of sharp force injuries to the torso. Twenty-two-year-old Tanique Chavis and 2-year-old Delvair Chavis died of thermal and inhalation injuries.

The Marshals Service says Hill took a taxi to Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, less than 24 hours after the slayings. He then paid a man to drive him to an Amtrak station in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
