DC school employee charged with enticing minor

WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police say a city public school employee has been charged with enticing a minor.

Police say 26-year-old Joseph Morales was arrested after detectives got a tip about inappropriate communications between Morales and a student at Cardozo Education Campus, where he works.

Police got the tip on Thursday and Morales was arrested on Friday. The school system placed him on administrative leave.

Police say they investigation is continuing as they look for possible additional victims.

Cardozo is a secondary school serving grades 6-12 with an enrollment of 681 students.

A school system spokeswoman did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

A student at the school told WTOP, “That’s surprising. He’s one of the nicest dudes I know. He’s helped me with my homework. I’ve played basketball and soccer with him. That’s kind of crazy.”

WTOP’s Michelle Murillo contributed to this report.
