Red Cross to honor Heidi Klum for charity work

WASHINGTON (AP) — The American Red Cross is honoring Heidi Klum in Washington for her work volunteering with the charity.

Klum will receive the organization’s Crystal Cross Award on Saturday. The award honors celebrities who have shown exemplary support of the Red Cross mission.

The charity says Klum was chosen for her generous contributions and volunteer efforts after Superstorm Sandy. She delivered goods to families affected by the storm in the New York area and hosted fundraisers for the relief effort.

Klum has also served on the Red Cross “celebrity cabinet” for 10 years and has worked to promote various initiatives.

Past recipients of the award include Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Josh Duhamel, Jamie Lee Curtis and Sean Penn.
