WASHINGTON (AP) — A D.C. councilmember says he’s in touch with a producer for the ABC TV drama “Scandal” who’d like to bring the show to the city to shoot scenes in August.

Councilman Vincent Orange says the “Scandal” shoot would be dependent on continued funding of the city’s film incentive program. “Scandal” is set in Washington but shoots in Los Angeles.

Washington’s incentive fund has $4.5 million this fiscal year. Mayor Vincent Gray’s office has proposed moving the money elsewhere and committing just $1 million to incentives next year.

Orange says the city needs incentives so shows set in the capital actually shoot scenes there. He’s also met with producers for the Netflix drama “House of Cards,” shot primarily in Maryland.

Others say the incentive money could be better spent elsewhere.
