WASHINGTON — Cinco de Mayo came early for dozens of chihuahuas and their owners.

The third annual running of the Chihuahuas featured about 30 of the little pups racing against each other in a series of heats.

A sunny afternoon brought out about a thousand people to either run their dogs or watch the races.

Proceeds from the race will to build a dog park in southwest.
