ACCOMAC, Va. (AP) -- An Accomack County judge has rejected prosecutors' request to hold a single trial for a woman facing 62 arson charges.

Circuit Court Judge Glen A. Tyler says in his order that the charges against Tonya Bundick aren't based on the same act or transaction, and there's no common scheme or plan.

Prosecutors had asked Tyler to join all 62 counts in a single trial. Bundick had requested separate trials on each count.

Media outlets report that Tyler issued his order Friday.

A 64-count indictment charged Bundick with setting a series of fires on the Eastern Shore. She entered an Alford plea to two of the arson counts in January.

An Alford plea is one in which a defendant acknowledges there was sufficient evidence for conviction but does not admit guilt.
