Report: Georgetown ricin suspect may have made threats

WASHINGTON — A Georgetown University student was charged with producing the deadly toxin ricin in his dorm room.

Daniel Milzman, a 19-year-old sophomore, faces a federal court hearing Tuesday.

Court documents paint a picture of a student in his dorm room using his iPhone to research the process of making ricin, then wearing goggles and a dust mask while making the poison.

The Washington Post reports that the 2012 graduate of Walt Whitman High School, in Bethesda, made aggressive online comments against a fellow student in recent months, and that a recent Georgetown graduate told university administrators about the messages.

The FBI says Milzman bought the precursor materials to make the deadly poison at stores including Home Depot and American Plant.
