VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Beach prosecutors have withdrawn charges against a suspect in the 2010 slaying of an off-duty Norfolk police officer.
Kareem Turner of Norfolk was charged in December 2012 with second-degree murder, robbery and two related counts.
Media outlets report that prosecutors withdrew the charges Monday.
Commonwealth's Attorney Colin Stole told a judge that his office recently learned one witness, and possibly another, had perjured themselves previously in the case.
Co-defendant Raymond Lewis Perry is awaiting trial on capital murder and related charges. He is serving a nearly 97-year sentence in a federal prison in South Carolina for a string of robberies prior to the death of 25-year-old Victor Decker.
Decker's body was found outside his pickup truck in Virginia Beach on Oct. 26, 2010. Police say he had been shot.
