ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Two people have died in a fire that broke out in a house in Arlington, and a firefighter suffered burns.
Arlington firefighters were called to the house Saturday about 3:30 p.m. near South Langley and 19th streets. Deputy Fire Marshal Brian McGraw says witnesses reported hearing two loud explosions in the house. It's not clear what caused them.
Officials say several people evacuated the house on their own before firefighters arrived.
The intensity of the flames initially prevented firefighters from entering the house. McGraw says it appears wind gusts made the fire more intense.
The victims' names were not immediately released. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A firefighter who suffered burns on his hands was treated at a hospital.
