RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The State Board of Elections has opened up a public comment period on its decision to revise the deadline for filing campaign finance reports.
A spokesman for Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Brian Coy, tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1dQ3I75 ) that the secretary of administration requested the comment period after learning that the change was made without public notice.
The board pushed back the filing deadline from 5 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the day the reports are due.
The public can comment on the change through an online survey on the board's website. The comment period ends March 26.
Board of Elections chairman Charles E. Judd suggested the change during a Jan. 8 meeting. He says the meeting's minutes were posted online.
