Police find body of missing 83-year-old D.C. man

WASHINGTON — Police say they have found the body of Jesse Jones, 83, missing since March 11.

Jones’ body was found Friday.

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are expanding their search for a missing 83-year-old man who was last seen Tuesday, March 11.

Police say Jesse Jones was last seen at Busboys & Poets restaurant in the 1000 block of 5th Street NW. He was wearing navy blue pants, a navy blue windbreaker, glasses and a black fedora.

Family members are worried about Jones who suffers from dementia and has high blood pressure, which requires daily medication.

Police have expanded their search into Maryland and there is a $5,000 reward being offered for information that leads to finding Jones, the former chief warden of the D.C. jail.

He was also one of the first African American officials in Mayor Walter Washington’s D.C. Department of Corrections.

Jones is described as black, 5-feet-7-inches tall, about 160 pounds. He has brown eyes, a bald head and a dark complexion.
