WASHINGTON -- Fat Tuesday is a time to eat and be merry because the following day marks the beginning of Lent, when observers typically give up something for 40 days.

And because it marks the last night of revelry, the only real way to celebrate is at one of the many extravagant Fat Tuesday parties around town.

Check below to find one near you:

Bourbon Street Bash

Sure to be one of the rowdiest parties around, Rumors in Northwest D.C. will be turned into the ultimate Fat Tuesday soiree, complete with $2 Coors Lights, $3 Blue Moons and $4 Bacardi Hurricanes, plus cajun food and more. Festivities kick off at 4 p.m.

Havre de Grace Mardi Gras Parade
