Police: 5 responsible for BB shootings in Fairfax Co.

Friday - 2/28/2014, 12:39pm  ET

WASHINGTON -- Fairfax County police arrested three Manassas adults and intend to charge two juveniles in connection with a series of vandalism incidents in the Sully District.

Police say between Feb. 2 and Feb. 18 at least 100 parked vehicles were hit by what appeared to be BBs. Police say the suspects drove through neighborhoods shooting the BBs at parked cars, damaging them and breaking windows. The vehicles were parked near or on Old Centreville Road, Skipton Court, Federation Drive, Singletons Way and Compton Lane.

Police say an alert citizen on Feb. 21 called to report a suspicious vehicle in the Bull Run Post Office Road area.

When police arrived, they found several smashed mailboxes and were able to identify five suspects.

After warrants were issued, two men and one woman turned themselves in. Police charged them four counts of felony destruction of property and two counts of misdemeanor destruction of property. Additional charges are possible, police say.

Police charged Travis Samuel Boykin Nokes, 22, of Manassas, Ashley Nicole McPherson, 24, of Manassas and Treyvon Tibbs, 18, Manassas

Police are seeking petitions to charge a 16-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy, both from the Manassas area, with the same offenses.
