WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Poet and author Maya Angelou is scheduled to speak during a weeklong celebration of diversity at the College of William & Mary.
Angelou's appearance April 15 as part of "I am W&M" week will be free for students. Tickets for the public are $15 and will go on sale March 21.
Angelou is the author of more than 30 best-selling works, including the acclaimed "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings." She also has worked in film and television and has won three Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts and the Lincoln Medal.
"I am W&M" week begins April 11 and will include a pride festival, a neurodiversity panel discussion, a day of faith expression and an opportunity for first-generation college students to share their stories.
