WASHINGTON (AP) -- The drama of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia will reach the Washington theater with a new play premiering next year.
Arena Stage will host the premiere of the new political drama "The Originalist" in 2015 about "one of America's most brilliant and polarizing figures." It follows the story of a liberal law clerk who finds Scalia to be both infuriating and an unexpected mentor.
Arena announced its 2014-15 season Wednesday. It includes five new plays, two musicals and a commission of 25 writers reflecting on the legacy of the Civil War.
The season's centerpiece may be "Fiddler on the Roof" opening in October to celebrate the musical's 50th anniversary.
Arena also will bring the 2013 Tony Award-winning best play "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" to Washington.
