More snow expected in Maryland

Thursday - 2/13/2014, 6:02pm  ET

REISTERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Ken Mallette, director of the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, said Thursday afternoon that emergency management officials are pleasantly surprised by how well the state weathered the first wintery blast, as residents largely stayed off the roads and power outages were fairly low.

But officials are hoping people continue to stay off the roads for the next wave of winter weather late this afternoon and into the evening.

Ken Widelski of the National Weather Service says 2 to 4 inches of snow could fall in the I-95 corridor and points east. It could start with a mix of rain and snow, turning to snow as temperatures drop.

Southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore could see snowfall later Thursday, as well.
