HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- A convicted sex offender is facing new charges involving a minor.

Virginia State Police say 38-year-old Travis W. Sorrells of Raphine is accused of soliciting sex online from a person he thought was a female teenager. The person was an undercover law enforcement officer.

Sorrells was arrested Friday in Harrisonburg. He's charged with online sexual solicitation of a minor.

The Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/1fojS5R ) reports that Sorrells is a former state police trooper who was convicted in 2005 in Stafford Circuit Court on charges of taking indecent liberties and using electronic means to procure a minor. He was sentenced to 10 years in prion with all but a year and nine months suspended.

Sorrells was a state trooper stationed in Appomattox at the time of his 2004 arrest in that case.
