LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- Howard County police say four people have been arrested in connection with a shooting and truck crash in Laurel that killed a man.
Police say late Thursday, a resident on Sewall Avenue reported that a pickup truck had hit a tree in front of his property. Officers found 24-year-old Russell Elbert Rowe of Laurel alone in the truck, suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where police say he died Sunday.
Police say an investigation indicated that four people planned to rob Rowe.
Twenty-two-year-old Desmick Lewis of Columbia was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and other offenses. Three others were charged with attempted second-degree murder, but police those charges may be changed because of Rowe's death.
