RENO, Nev. (AP) -- The Reno Gazette-Journal intends to increase its use of national news and sports content from USA Today beginning on Sunday.
Gazette- Journal publisher John Maher said it's part of an enhanced partnership between the two publications owned by Gannett Co. Inc. and is intended to allow his newsroom to focus more on local coverage.
Maher said the new USA Today local edition was created with support from Gannett's U.S. Community Publishing division and USA Today. He said it will add an average of 60 pages to the Reno paper per week.
He said that while the two have worked in recent years to deliver the Gazette- Journal's "Nation & World" section, the new effort will feature expanded national news, money, sports and life content. It will run daily except for Saturdays.
