RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Officials who played key roles in responding to two recent crisis situations will be guest speakers at the 2014 Emergency Management Symposium.
The keynote speaker is Michael Oppegaard, coordinator of the Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management in New Jersey. He will talk about lessons learned from Superstorm Sandy.
Kurt Schwartz, undersecretary of public safety for Massachusetts, will discuss his experience responding to the Boston Marathon bombing.
The event for emergency managers throughout Virginia is set for March 19-21 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.
