CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- A Virginia-based charity group is helping relief efforts following a chemical spill in West Virginia that tainted the water supply in nine counties.

Gleaning For The World says it is providing 200,000 bottles of water for families in Charleston and Huntington. It'll use churches as distribution points to help those in Holden, Boone and Logan counties.

The Concord, Va., group shipped nine tractor-trailer loads of water over the weekend.

West Virginia American Water customers in the affected counties have not been able to use their tap water for drinking, cooking, bathing or washing clothes since the spill occurred Thursday in Charleston.
